About me

I have worked at UWE since January 1997 so am really part of the furniture!

Although university life has changed quite considerably in the years since I was a student, I feel that my experiences then and subsequently enable me to appropriately advise and guide students in their particular challenges.  Life can quite often seem unfair and acceptance of personal limitations as a result of issues experienced is frequently the way forward in resolving difficulties and achieving the best outcome.

Area of expertise

I have worked at UWE since January 1997, firstly down at St Matthias Campus for 7 years with the Psychology department before moving up to Frenchay in 2004 as part of the relocation and redevelopment of the Faculty of Applied Sciences (now Faculty of Health & Applied Sciences).  I have built up a solid understanding of the various programmes within Health & Applied Sciences - such as Forensic science, Biosciences, Environmental Science, Criminology, Sociology, Psychology and Counselling, both undergraduate and postgraduate.

Since January 2012 I have been located within the Student and Partnership Services following the One University Administration (OUA) restructuring.  My time is spent in 1:1 appointments with students (in person and by phone) - advising them on issues affecting their studies and appropriately signposting to other services and facilities in UWE.  Primarily my clients are from the Science faculty, however I regularly support students from alternative faculties.
