About me
I have worked at UWE since January 1997 so am really part of the furniture!
Although university life has changed quite considerably in the years since I was a student, I feel that my experiences then and subsequently enable me to appropriately advise and guide students in their particular challenges. Life can quite often seem unfair and acceptance of personal limitations as a result of issues experienced is frequently the way forward in resolving difficulties and achieving the best outcome.
Area of expertise
I have worked at UWE since January 1997. I have built up a solid understanding of the various programmes within Health & Applied Sciences - such as Forensic science, Biosciences, Environmental Science, Wildlife Ecology, Criminology, Sociology, Philosophy, Politics and International relations, Psychology and Counselling, both undergraduate and postgraduate. I can also support students on programmes within healthcare and allied health professions.
Since January 2012 I have been part of the Student and Administrative Services department following restructuring.
My time is spent in 1:1 appointments with students (in person.by phone or Teams video) - advising them on issues affecting their studies and appropriately signposting to other services and facilities in UWE. Primarily my clients are from the Science college, however I regularly support students from alternative colleges and schools.
I am also involved in MyEngagement monitoring and other short-term projects.
