About me
Kavitha is a Senior Teaching Technician working across the Digital Design Studios and Digital Fabrication at UWE Bristol’s Bower Ashton campus. She supports students in developing ideas from their first sketch or digital file through to print, publication, prototype, or finished object, and works with students from a wide range of courses and levels.
Area of expertise
Kavitha teaches and provides practical guidance in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, alongside laser cutting for various areas of application like screen printing, print production, and creative fabrication processes. She particularly enjoys helping students connect digital design with physical making - and making unfamiliar software or equipment feel less intimidating.
Before joining UWE, Kavitha worked for many years as a graphic designer in professional design and print environments, producing brand identities, publications, packaging, exhibition graphics and digital communication. Her professional design experience includes work for education, healthcare, and commercial organisations. Her book-design work has received international recognition at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, including recognition for Best Design and Best Cookbook Cover for Cooking at Home with Pedatha, and a Special Mention for Sukham Ayu. She continues to practise as a graphic designer, printmaker, and textile artist through freelance, commercial, and community projects. Her industry experience informs the practical advice she gives students about typography, file preparation, and production.
