About me

Dr. Kim Sauvé (she/her) is a Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of the West of England (UWE) Bristol, specialising in Human-Data Interaction (HDI) and Data Physicalization. Her research integrates Visualisation, Physical Computing, and Interaction Design to create interactive systems that make data more accessible and experiential.

Her work combines empirical studies with design practice to explore how physical representations of data can enhance engagement, decision-making, and behaviour change. She develops interactive systems that transform complex data into meaningful, tangible experiences. Her projects include LOOP, an ambient artefact visualising personal activity data, and Econundrum and Edo, which use interactive physical designs to promote awareness of the climate impact of dietary choices.

Kim completed her PhD, Towards Context-Sensitive Physicalization Design, at Lancaster University, where she investigated the role of physicality and context in shaping how people interact with and experience data in physical 3D space.

At UWE Bristol, she is an active member of the Expressive Computer Interaction research theme within the Computer Science Research Centre. Her work focuses on designing tangible data experiences that foster reflection, discussion, and informed decision-making, bridging the gap between digital information and everyday life.
