About me

Senior Lecturer - BSc (Hons) Nursing

I completed my nursing training at UWE between 2008-2011. My clinical background has always been in Paediatric Haematology & Oncology. I worked at the Bristol Children's Hospital for 12 years, firstly as staff nurse on the Haematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit where I worked for 6 years. Then as a Band 6 Clinical Research Nurse within the Paediatric Haematology, Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant Research Team for a further 5 years. Between 2021-2023 I worked as a Band 7 Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) Facilitator involved in mainstreaming genomics into routine practice within Paediatric and Adult Cancer.

In 2022 I began working at UWE initially alongside my Band 7 WGS role and I am now full time at UWE working in Nursing education as a Senior Lecturer in the Children and Young People's Nursing Lecturing Team. I teach and facilitate a range of theory and practice modules for undergraduate (pre-registration) nursing students, and post-registration Master's level students. I am a module lead for 2 modules within the undergraduate program, and 2 post-registration modules in Cancer care and Palliative Care. I am currently one of the Academics in Practice covering the Gloucestershire and Somerset area, as well as a local hospice in North Somerset, supporting students in practice and maintaining practice partnerships. I have recently gained my MSc Professional Development Award and am continuing my professional and academic development with the hope to work towards further qualifications.
