About me
I completed my nursing training at UWE between 2008-2011. My clinical background has always been in Paediatric Haematology & Oncology. I worked at the Bristol Children's Hospital for 12 years, firstly as staff nurse on the Haematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit where I worked for 6 years. Then as a Band 6 Clinical Research Nurse within the Paediatric Haematology, Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant Research Team for a further 5 years. Between 2021-2023 I worked as a Band 7 Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) Facilitator involved in mainstreaming genomics into routine practice within Paediatric and Adult Cancer. In 2022 I began working at UWE initially alongside my Band 7 WGS role and I am now full time at UWE working in Nursing education as a Senior Lecturer in the Children and Young People's Nursing Lecturing Team. I teach and facilitate a range of Undergraduate (pre-registration) theory and practice modules. I also module lead an Undergraduate Palliative Care Module, and Postgraduate (post-registration) Modules in Cancer care and Palliative Care. I am currently one of the Academics in Practice covering the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, supporting students in practice. I am also currently working towards my MSc Professional Development Award.
