About me

Louisa Cockbill is a Research Fellow in UWE's Centre for Environment, Society and Resilience (CESR), which uses interdisciplinary environmental research to influence and impact people and policy. Louisa's current focus is the Community Climate and Nature Action project, which aims to investigate the polycentric governance of climate and nature action in West of England communities and use these learnings to provide policy recommendations to central government.

She is also the Communications Manager for CESR, promoting the centre's activities and achievements through a variety of internal and external communication platforms.

Louisa also holds the role of Communications Project Coordinator for the School of Engineering's Inspire Sustainability schools outreach team, with a particular focus on delivering the Curiosity Connections Green Futures project to inspire young people into green career pathways.

The Inspire Sustainability aims to address the nationwide skills gap in STEM subjects by championing science for children in the West of England, with a particular focus on breaking stereotypes and challenging perceptions about STEM careers, in particular Green jobs. She also contributes to the Engineering Department's Engineering our Future webpage - https://blogs.uwe.ac.uk/engineering/ and manages the local primary school science network - Curiosity Connections.

Louisa is a science communicator and researcher with experience as a writer (writing stories on new scientific research for various international publications) and presenter (presenting science shows to children and families).
She holds a BSc in Cancer Biology and Immunology and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Bristol.
