About me

Dr Louise Franklin is an Associate Lecturer in Visual Culture and teaches across the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Visual Culture. She is also Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Art History at the Bristol School of Art. Louise is a peer-reviewer and a member of the the Association for Art History and the Visual Culture Research Group (UWE). 

Area of expertise

Louise is a specialist in the work of Parisian painter, Chaim Soutine (1893-1943) and the broader context of interwar European modernism in which he practiced. Her wider research is concerned with representations of intersecting identities in a range of cultural forms and contexts plus arts and humanities pedagogy.
