About me
I am a practitioner-lecturer and honed my skills in the professional audio and media industries as a sound recordist and sound editor for Film, TV and Games.
I am the current Programme Leader for UWE Bristol's undergraduate degrees BSc(hons) Audio & Music Technology and BSc(hons) Creative Music Technology. I've been a part of the team since 2016 and lead the sound design and audio post-production curriculum across the creative technologies' degrees (Music Tech, Games Tech and Digital Media). Previously, I led the School's enterprise and innovation initiatives resulting the creation of The Foundry in 2019.
I maintain my professional links to industry as a council member for the UK screen sound guild, the Association of Motion Picture Sound (AMPS). I support the guilds initiatives in developing links with new talent, Universities, and educational institutions.
I am co-director of the boutique audio post-production and outsourcing company YXO studios. We deliver premium audio to the world's biggest broadcasters, developers, and brands on high-end and award-winning TV, radio, films, games, podcasts, online and interactive media.
My academic practice-as-research focuses on knowledge exchange; R&D of immersive content, systems and formats; digital-future workflows and services beyond the creative technologies. This often revolves around the combination of game/VR development, 3D audio, sound recording and acoustic consultancy within both creative industries and wider applications. Examples of past and current projects include: immersive architectural sound studies, VR heritage experiences, acoustic environmental monitoring, XR/metaverse prototypes, product development consultancy, and cutting edge workflows for next generation media.
