About me
I am an ecologist passionate about applied research within arable and upland ecosystems.
My PhD thesis investigated the local and landscape factors which promote invertebrate-mediated ecosystem service provision within arable farmland.
After completing my PhD, I had a brief spell at Natural England as an Upland Lead Advisor between 2018-19. This role involved negotiating land management plans with upland estate owners and land agents.
Following my spell at Natural England, I completed a short-term remote sensing research project at Lancaster University investigating rush expansion within the English uplands. Then, between May 2020 and October 2021, I worked as a consultant for Natural Capital Solutions, where I mapped and calculated the physical and economic value of natural capital and ecosystem services for a range of clients.
Before starting at UWE, I worked as a lecturer in ecology and conservation at Keele University for three years.
Throughout my career, I have also worked as an occasional ecological consultant for various companies and have provided environmental advice and evidence synthesis services to the Moorland Association and Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust.
Area of expertise
