About me
Marta is a multidisciplinary, concept-led graphic designer and a lecturer on the BA (Hons) Graphic Design course at the University of the West of England. She specialises in editorial design, typography, print and web design, and is interested in how graphic design and visual culture both reflect and shape society.
With extensive experience in creating visual concepts and translating them into effective design solutions and ephemera, Marta has worked on a wide range of projects for cultural events and institutions, educational bodies, local businesses, artists, and non-profit organisations. She is particularly interested in using design as a tool for in-depth research, topical exploration, and experimentation, making complex subjects accessible and engaging to a wider audience through participatory workshops and enquiry-based methods focused on critical topics.
Marta adopts a holistic approach to design, driven by visual thinking and motivated by the potential impact of visual culture. Her work and research focus on critically analysing the role of design in shaping social dynamics and culture, exploring how design can both reflect and influence social change.
She is a member of the Education team and judging panel for the International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD) and has served as project coordinator for the cultural exchange with the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI), run by SHAPE, in 2024 and 2025. Marta is the project co-ordinator for the third year end of the year publication.
