About me

I am a Lecturer in Applied Mathematics, focused on helping students engage with mathematical concepts in a clear and structured way. I enjoy working with students both in large classes, small groups and one-on-one, helping them tackle challenges and develop their understanding. As a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and Member of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (MIMA), I’m always looking for new ways to grow as an educator and researcher.

My research background is broad and interdisciplinary. After earning a first-class BA in Mathematics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, I moved to Liverpool, UK, to complete an MSc in Mathematical Sciences with Distinction. Most recently, I completed my PhD at the University of Manchester, focusing on Mathematical Physics, particularly acoustic wave diffraction.

As a side project, I’ve also had the chance to collaborate on a cosmology project, an area I’ve always found interesting, even though it’s not my main expertise. I applied advanced mathematical techniques developed in my PhD to test and validate early universe models in cosmology, strengthening the theoretical foundations behind interpretations of experimental data. Currently, I am developing this path of research--a technical line in mathematical cosmology.

Simultaneously, I am involved in scholarly activity in mathematics education in higher education, with a focus on student voice, co-creation, and inclusive pedagogies; and a more technical line in mathematical cosmology.

At UWE Bristol, I co-lead the first-year module The Professional Mathematical Scientist and contribute to various other modules within both the mathematics and engineering programmes. This includes leading the Mathematics for Electrical Engineers module. I am also a member of the Mathematics and Statistics Research Group (MSRG).

Before joining UWE Bristol, I held academic positions at the University of Manchester and the University of Leicester.
