About me
I am the Director (Academic) for the School of Arts. I am mainly based at Bower Ashton City Campus.
I was Associate Head of Department, Design (2021-2022). I was programme manager for the MA/MFA Curating from 2014-2021. I am a V&A Visiting Fellow http://www.vam.ac.uk/content/articles/r/research-department/
My other academic interests include applied arts and crafts history; using video as an oral history research methodology and research ethics in the arts.
Area of expertise
I was Chair of the Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries and Education Research Ethics Committee from 2007-2015.
I am a member of the Museums and Galleries History Group and the Museums Association.
- I am a founding member of the ‘Interpreting Ceramics’ Journal.
- My Ph.D. was in the field of Design History and looked at the design and social history of London coffee bars during the 1950s.
