Mr Michal Bobula

I am a Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at Bristol Business School, UWE Bristol, and a leading voice on generative AI at the university. My research examines how AI is changing accounting practice and education, and how people and AI can work together.

I lead the AI Accountancy Benchmark, a project with a UK accountancy firm that tests how reliably AI performs real client work, showing where it can be trusted and where professional judgement remains essential. My 2024 review of generative AI in higher education, published in the Journal of Learning Development in Higher Education, is widely cited.

At UWE I sit on the AI Governance Group, co-lead the AI Special Interest Group and am a member of the AI Community of Practice. I have trained colleagues across the university in using AI in teaching, learning and assessment. I was Programme Leader for Accounting and Finance from 2022 to 2024, and from January 2027 I will teach a new module, Management Accounting in an AI World.

Previously, I was a Corporate Research Analyst at Barnett Waddingham, researching pension schemes and remuneration policies.
