About me

Neeti is an international academic scholar with extensive research and academic experience. She has teaching and research experience both in India and Singapore and enjoys wide international linkages with insolvency scholars across the globe.  She was awarded Ph.D. by National Law University Jodhpur, India.  Her thesis entitled “Changing Paradigm of Corporate Governance explored the influence of the Anglo-Saxon model of corporate governance in the Indian reform efforts and whether there are any signs of convergence.  She earned LLM from the University College London, UK.  She completed her undergraduate  degree in law from Indraprastha University, Delhi, India with a first class.  She completed the law teachers’ programme at UCL and has been a visiting fellow at the Singapore Management University, Singapore. She has been recipient of the Hague Academy Fellowship.

 Neeti’s research interests include Insolvency laws and corporate governance. Her research and policy inputs have led to policy changes in India and have been referred to by institutions such as the World Bank. She has been part of the subject matter experts providing inputs on the World Bank Group’s Business Enabling Environment Report.

 Neeti has previously worked as an Associate Dean, at the Indian School of Public Policy, New Delhi. In 2019, she was appointed as the founding Head of the Centre for Insolvency and Bankruptcy, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. The Centre was established by the Government of India as a part of building up a robust insolvency framework with the enactment of India’s Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016.  She carried out two funded research a) “Regulatory Framework For Resolution of Financial Service Providers” Funded research by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and b) "Assessment of Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process Timeline” funded by the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (India’s insolvency regulator). 

She serves as a member of the INSOL Academic Steering Committee, a pre-eminent Committee of the INSOL International (INSOL International is a worldwide federation of national associations for accountants and lawyers who specialize in turnaround and insolvency.).  She also serves on the board of editors of the prestigious journal International Insolvency Review, published by Wiley international. She is a board member of The Stichting Bob Wessels Insolvency Law Collection (BWILC), a Dutch foundation that aimed at promoting the interest and knowledge of international and comparative restructuring and insolvency law. She co-chairs the Insolvency Scholars’ Forum, a body of scholars under the aegis of Insolvency Law Academy, India’s leading insolvency law think tank. She contributes regularly to leading Daily in India such as Bloomberg Quint, Mint, Financial Express, etc.
