About me

Dr Nuzhat Younis is currently serving as Lecturer in Information Science and has also been working as an Associate Lecturer with the University of the West of England since October 2024. Her academic role encompasses teaching, curriculum development, and student support across areas such as information technology, information risk management, information strategy and governance and IT project management.

Her career reflects a strong combination of academic expertise and industry experience, with a particular focus on information risk management, and data-driven decision-making. She has contributed to teaching and supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supporting student research in areas including IT, business analytics, and emerging digital technologies.

Previously, she worked as an Hourly Paid Lecturer at the University of South Wales, supervising postgraduate dissertations in data science, business analytics, and information technology. She also served as a Senior Administrative Officer (Data Analytics and Business Planning) at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, where she supported institutional strategy through data analysis, reporting, and performance evaluation.

Earlier in her career, she held a Lecturer position at the Institute of Southern Punjab, where she established a strong foundation in teaching, academic support, and programme development. Her professional journey began in industry, including roles as a Network Support Officer at MCB Bank Limited and as a Technical Support Executive in the UK. These roles strengthened her technical, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities, particularly in network security, IT infrastructure, and systems support.

Dr Younis holds a PhD in Management and IT, focusing on the impact of AI tools on student performance in higher education. She earned an MBA in IT and a bachelor’s in economics and mathematics.  

Her academic practice is underpinned by active engagement in curriculum development, assessment moderation, and blended learning design, with a strong commitment to enhancing student engagement, integrating real-world applications, and maintaining high standards of academic quality and continuous professional development.

Dr Nuzhat Younis’s area of expertise lies at the intersection of Information Science and Technology, with a strong emphasis on the application of digital systems to support decision-making and information risk management. Her work integrates principles of information management, data analytics, and cybersecurity to address contemporary challenges in digital environments.

Her expertise in Information Science encompasses information governance, data management, and knowledge systems, with a focus on how data is collected, structured, analysed, and utilised within organisations.

Her teaching and research further extend to emerging areas such as the integration of artificial intelligence in education and digital systems, particularly exploring how AI-driven tools can enhance learning, performance, and decision-making processes. This reflects a broader interest in the role of intelligent systems within modern information ecosystems.

Dr Younis also brings strengths in curriculum design, blended learning, and the use of digital platforms to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. Her interdisciplinary approach combines technical knowledge with analytical and pedagogical expertise, enabling the effective delivery of Information Science and Technology education aligned with industry needs and academic standards.
