About me

Dr Olugbenga Akinade has a PhD from the University of the West of England (UWE) Bristol. His research transcends knowledge boundaries through effective research leadership and industry engagement for delivering innovation with high-impact research to businesses. His cross-disciplinary research interests cut across digital transformation (using emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, digital twin, AR/VR, machine learning, the internet of things), sustainability, and digital project management. He has been actively involved in the application of emerging technologies to address real-life problems in many industries. This is evidenced in his direct involvement in the successful delivery of various research and development projects. With over 12 years of experience in research and teaching, he has published over 60 papers in reputable journals. 

Ongoing Research Projects
  1. Co-Investigator – IntelliSite: enabling safer and more efficient construction through video analytics and machine learning. Funded by Innovate UK under the UKRI Ideas to Address COVID-19 @ £832,243. The partners are Costain Limited and Zest Consult Ltd. 
  2. Principal Investigator - Computer Vision and IoT for Personalised Site Monitoring Analytics in Real-Time towards Behaviour-Based Safety (AIVR Lookout) Funded by Innovate UK @ £799,999. Partners: WinVic Construction and One Big Circle Limited.
  3. Co-Investigator - Transport Infrastructure Efficiency Strategy (TIES) Living Lab. funded by Innovate UK Transforming Construction@£16.278 million.
