I am a Professor of Health Services Research (Service Evaluation) in the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences and for 7 years held a Centre Director post. I hold a Honorary Contract at the University of Bristol. I am currently leading the evaluation component of SPATIAL, an NIHR funded project. I am joint lead for REF UoA3 2021 submission and previously co-led the successful 2014 submission, which was the highest achieving UoA in UWE. I have led and contributed to a number of evaluation projects, receiving funding from the Department of Health, National Institute for Health Research and a range of charities. I have expertise in qualitative and quantitative methodologies and have published key nursing research texts over the last 25 years. I am committed to the dissemination of research and evaluation through a range of media, including publications, conference presentations and online methods.
Area of expertise
I have expertise in a number of areas including service evaluation, elearning, research methods and public involvement in research. I hold a number of external roles such as; Editorial board member Nurse Education Today and reviewer Journal of Advanced Nursing. I have supported research capacity and capability building across the university and particuarly within the Faculties of HAS and ACE.
