About me

Paul started his education in construction with a HND in Building Studies and went on to complete the Bsc Hons in building surveying here at UWE.  Following that he worked in industry as a building surveyor for a variety of clients from various city and county councils, NHS trusts across the country, the Ministry of Defence through to corporate clients such as Tesco, Royal Bank of Scotland, Hollister and the principality building society amongst others.

Following this time in industry Paul moved into education working at a variety of further education providers in the southwest region delivering and leading national diplomas in construction and civil engineering.  Obtaining his Post Graduate Certificate in Post Compulsory Education Training whilst delivering construction programmes at Swindon College. While working at Weston College leading the national diploma awards Paul designed the programme of delivery for the Higher National certificate HNC in construction and saw the opportunity to develop a further higher national certificate in construction and the built environment for the University College Weston (UCW)  Developing the structure, assessments and delivery from the ground up building a robust higher national certificate offering. 

Paul followed his interest in sustainability and sustainable development and undertook a Msc in Sustainable Development in Practice while working in further education and developing the courses for UCW.  When an opportunity arose for a lecturing position in Building surveying at UWE.  Paul finished his masters while working at UWE and has subsequently moved to senior lecturer position.

Paul is research active and has researched sustainability in the built environment and has publications within conference proceedings and is currently on the register of experts with Bristol City Council advising on sustainability policy.  He continues to be research active and is working towards complete of his doctorate.
