About me

I am a Lecturer in Civil Engineering in the School of Engineering at UWE Bristol. I obtained my PhD in Engineering from the University of Cambridge, funded by a European Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship, and my BEng in Civil Engineering from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Prior to joining UWE Bristol, I worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Cambridge, and later as an engineer at Ove Arup & Partners, where I contributed to major infrastructure, underground construction, and digital engineering projects across the UK.

My research integrates structural and geotechnical engineering, fibre optic sensing, and digital technologies to improve the quality, safety, and resilience of civil infrastructure across its lifecycle. I am particularly interested in intelligent sensing systems and digital twins for construction monitoring, quality control, and asset management. Increasingly, I explore data-driven and AI-assisted approaches, including machine learning, to enhance the interpretation of complex structural and construction data, grounded in engineering mechanics and physical modelling. I work closely with industry partners to translate these advances into practical tools, workflows, and guidance for the built environment.
