About me
Ramin continues to be an active academic and senior manager in UWE - committed to his teaching as well as his research specialisms in Composites, Modelling and AI. He has developed and successfully implemented Knowledge Exchange (KE) and partnership activities with his determination to place students at the heart of the exchange and engagement work. By fostering a collaborative environment, he is creating a healthy portfolio of apprentices, learners at partner colleges, student internships, staff projects, and consultancies.
Ramin has Fellowship of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE) an award granted to a professional engineer working in a senior role with significant autonomy and responsibility. It is the highest level of membership and demonstrates experience, commitment, and contribution to engineering. Receiving peer recognition for his STEM outreach work, Ramin has been the Education Officer for IMechE for the Western region since 2015. In this role, he is working directly with IMechE and other professional engineering institutions including the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), etc.
Ramin is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. This shows leading and influencing academic practice and higher education learning in many different settings. Working with and through 'others' (e.g. colleagues, peers, mentees, etc.) Ramin operates to support, guide, and initiate change or lead/influence enhancement of practice in a wide range of global contexts.
Area of expertise
Ramin is deeply passionate about his research in areas including Composites, Computational Modelling, and the application of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Simulation to tackle intricate mechanical problems. He has supervised more than 100 Undergraduate and Postgraduate final year projects in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Product Design subjects. He has also acted as Director of Studies for 5 PhD students, as well as publishing more than 35 papers and engaging with other educational organisations as an external examiner, assessor, and moderator.
Ramin's current and previous teaching portfolio includes subjects such as Solid Modelling, Engineering Design, Stress Analysis, Finite Element Analysis, Design Embodiment, Mechanics of Composite, Computational Mechanics etc.
