About me
Raquel V. Oliveira is a Lecturer in Criminology at the University of the West of England. She joined UWE in 2020 after completing her PhD at Florida State University (USA) where she researched typologies of violent offenders and recidivism, and worked as a Graduate Teaching and Research Assistant. Raquel also holds a MSc. in Clinical Psychology from ISPA-IU (2009, Portugal) and has been a member of the Analyses and Metric Validation Research Group (CNPQ - UNESP, Brazil) since June 2012, and of the research group CICS.NOVA (Portugal) since January 2020.
She has published papers in international journals and presented at several conferences. Her research has focused on life-course criminology and correlates of violent offending, using a bio-psycho-social approach to the study of crime.
Prior to coming to UWE Raquel taught introduction to criminology and research methods courses at Florida State University (USA), and worked as a researcher for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (USA). Before that she worked as a research assistant at ISPA-IU (Portugal).
