About me

I am a senior lecturer in environmental planning. My teaching and research crosses the disciplines of environmental planning and energy geography. Broadly, my teaching and research interests involve the regulation of renewable energy infrastructure and how the planning system can help achieve net zero ambitions.

My recent research projects have involved end-of-life considerations for onshore wind farms (repowering, life-extension and decommissioning) and an investigation into the impact of the planning policy for new onshore wind farms in England. My research has won the Energy SHIFTS ECR award for innovative research findings and the ESRC Celebrating Impact Prize for 'Outstanding Early Career Impact'. If you are interested in my research then please take a look at this short video produced by the ESRC or contact me to arrange a meeting.

I am passionate about the sharing of research findings with diverse audiences to influence policy and practice as well as to inform the public. I have discussed my research at numerous industry conferences and have been quoted in a number of national newspapers including The Guardian.

  • I am the winner of the 2021 ESRC Celebrating Impact Prize for Outstanding Early Career Impact.
  • I am a chartered town planner and a member of the RTPI South West Regional Activities Committee.
  • I was a 2021 Planner Woman of Influence
  • I am the Secretary of the Royal Geographic Society Planning and Environment Research Group.
  • I was a finalist for the Energy UK 2021 Young Energy Professional of the Year award.

I am the module leader for 'Water and Energy futures' and 'Renewable energy and carbon futures'

Current ongoing research projects involve investigating:

-The decommissioning of onshore wind farms

-End-of-life options for wind farms in Italy

-The national infrastructure consenting regime and project implementation challenges

I am available to supervise PhD students on topics relating to planning for renewable energy or planning for climate change.
