About me

I am an industrial Chartered Engineer with over 38 years of industrial experience gained at BAE Systems (13 yrs), STMicroelectronics (13 yrs), Dyson (11 yrs) and Oxa (1 yr).

I have career long history of academic collaboration; for example, through:

My earliest work with UWE dates back to 1999 when working on a robotic demonstration for the Millenium Dome Exhibition that was sponsored by BAE Systems.

The main themes of my work are related to robotics through:

  • research into navigation algorithms, specifically Simultaneous Localisation and Map Building (SLAM),
  • development of embedded technologies, specifically System-on-Chip devices,
  • autonomous robot full product life cycle, specifically the Dyson 360Heurist and 360VisNav, and
  • teaching support for robotic and related subject areas at 32 Universities World-wide.
