About me
Roberto Rivera Fernandez is a research associate in food policy, security and resilience at the School of Applied Sciences (SAS) at UWE Bristol. His research sits at the intersection of public policy, food systems, environmental sustainability and strategic foresight, with a particular interest in how policy instruments and institutional structures shape decision-making.
His doctoral research examines historical and structural lock-ins in UK food policy, exploring how past policy choices influence present decision-making and opportunities for change. His wider research spans sustainable food systems and transport, including work on plant-based diets, national food strategies, social sustainability for SMEs, sustainable last-mile deliveries and commuting in the night-time economy.
He holds a MSc in Environmental Management and a BSc in Modern philology.
