About me
Programme lead – BSc (Hons) Children's Nursing
I completed my BSc (Hons) in Children's Nursing in 2011 here at UWE. Once qualified, I started working in a burns and reconstructive surgery, neurology and neurosurgery unit (Frenchay Hospital, Bristol). Soon after, I moved on and started working in a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Southmead, Bristol) as this is what I wanted to specialise in whilst being a student nurse. I worked there for several years, and undertook my neonatal specialty qualification in Neonatal Critical Care, which further advanced my career within the specialty. I was also a practice assessor for student nurses for the entirety of my clinical time in practice.
I started working at UWE as a lecturer in 2016 and studied for my PGCert in Teaching & Learning within my 1st year as a lecturer. I worked across all years of the undergraduate Children's Nursing programme and taught on post-registration master's level courses. I became a Senior Lecturer in 2018 and led a third-year practice module - soon after I took on the role of programme lead for children's nursing. I started studying for my MSc in advanced practice and completed this in 2021. I am also a member of the CYP Nurse Academic Network UK and a teaching fellow (Higher Education Academy).
