About me

I am a Senior Lecturer in Public Health at UWE Bristol. I lead Health
Protection teaching across the BSc Public Health and teach on several MSc Public Health modules. My work connects health protection with the behavioural and social factors that shape who is protected and who is missed.

I am looking to focus my research on the behavioural and social dimensions of health protection and prevention among underserved and mobile populations, while maintaining my presence within the built environment and public health research I have been doing.

I use my mixed-methods expertise to understand how risk, trust, stigma, mobility and access shape exposure, prevention and uptake, and to design interventions that reduce health inequalities.

I completed my PhD at UWE Bristol, where I examined  how students use  greenspace and how it affects their mental health, using longitudinal surveys, validated mental health scales and qualitative methods.

Before joining UWE, I worked as a Local Authority Research Practitioner
within the Evidence and Population Intelligence Team at South Gloucestershire Council. I supported research capacity across the council, contributed to in-house evidence generation, and examined the quality of governance processes to promote high-quality research and evidence generation.

I also held an honorary Senior Research Associate role with the University of Bristol. Earlier, as Data and Insight Manager at Severn Wye Energy Agency, I built practical skills in carbon footprinting, data modelling, CRM and reporting with Power BI.

I hold an MSc in Public Health from the University of Worcester and a BSc in Biological Sciences Education.

I am committed to reducing health inequalities and to research that improves and advances practice. I am always open to collaboration with academic, public health and community partners. Always happy for a chat!
