About me

Sarah is an Associate Director in Bristol Business School, where she leads and line manages the academic team across Marketing, Events and Tourism. As a Practice Academic, she brings substantial industry and leadership experience into the classroom, with a focus on practice-led teaching that prepares students for the realities of professional life.

Her experience spans 14 years at UWE and covers the full life of a programme: leading redesign and periodic review, creating new modules, and keeping curriculum, assessment and delivery current, coherent and connected to practice.

As Associate Director, Sarah holds operational responsibility for her subject cluster. She leads the recruitment, development and deployment of academic colleagues across core provision, transnational education and executive education, balancing portfolio priorities with staff expertise, workload sustainability and wellbeing. Her approach supports the School's commitment to high-quality, practice-led education and its international accreditation standards.

Sarah is currently undertaking a Doctorate in Education (EdD), building her published research profile and working towards Scholarly Practitioner status. Her research sits at the intersection of professional practice and higher education, reflecting her wider interest in how business schools develop people, programmes and communities that make a positive impact within a marketised system.

Area of expertise

Sarah's expertise centres on marketing communications, digital marketing and marketing planning. Her teaching and practice cover integrated campaign development, brand communications, content and social media strategy, and the shift from traditional to digital-first channel planning. She has particular experience in translating marketing theory into applied planning frameworks that students and organisations can actually use, from situation analysis and audience insight through to campaign execution, measurement and optimisation.
