About me
I am a Senior Lecturer in Independent Prescribing, an NMC-registered Adult Nurse, Independent Prescriber, and hold a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing Research. I have been part of the Independent Prescribing Team since 2021 and will shortly be taking on the role of Programme Lead for Independent Prescribing.
I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and am committed to supporting healthcare professionals to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence required for safe and effective prescribing practice. My interests include prescribing, clinical decision-making, diabetes management, research, and interprofessional learning.
Prior to joining the Independent Prescribing Team, I was a Doctoral Research Fellow at King's College London. My research focused on screening for steroid-induced diabetes in cancer patients receiving dexamethasone and was undertaken in collaboration with Guy's Cancer Centre and Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.
I have more than 12 years' experience as a Diabetes Specialist Nurse across intermediate and secondary care and have also worked in primary care, community nursing, renal medicine, and cardiac care. Throughout my clinical and academic career, I have taught and facilitated learning for healthcare students, professionals and service users, experiences that continue to inform my teaching and prescribing practice.
