About me

I am currently the GIS (Geographical Information Systems) Technical Instructor at the School of Applied Sciences at UWE. After a career in horticulture, I originally came to UWE in 2021 to complete the MRes in Applied Sciences. I am currently finishing my PhD at UWE where I used remote sensing data and GIS to model the impact of the invasive fungal tree pathogen Hymenoscyphus fraxineus.

Area of expertise

My current GIS-specific research interests include:

The use of Artificial Intelligence, specifically Deep Learning approaches, for monitoring environmental stressors using remote sensing imagery.

The applications of airborne multispectral and hyperspectral imagery for identifying forests phytopathogens and identifying tree species.

The use of Structure-from-Motion photogrammetry and Airborne LiDAR for modelling woodland vegetation structure.

The use of citizen science data for monitoring the distribution and conservation status of UK fungi species.
