About me

I studied for my doctorate in Sociology at Warwick (1994-99). Previously, I completed my first degree in Sociology at Plymouth (1988-91), before going on to study for my Masters in Philosophy and Social Theory  at Warwick (1994-95). I began my academic career as Tutor in Sociology at the University of Plymouth (1991-94). After that, I took up the post of Temporary Lecturer in Sociology at Leeds Metropolitan University (2001-01). I moved on to the University of Edinburgh on another fixed-term contract (2001-02), where I assumed the role of leadership of Second Year Sociology Undegraduate Studies. I have taught at UWE since 2003, where I am currently module leader for the core third-year course Contemporary Critiques of Modern Society, and for the first-year core Introduction to Criminological Theory module.
