About me

I am a Senior Lecturer at the University of the West of England researching the role of risk prediction and deciscion making in public law interference in private life with a focus primarily on families, child protection and safeguarding. I teach law cross discipline to forensics undergraduates and am the Principle Investigator on the Risk of Risk project (ESCR, £250k) and co-Investigator on the Care Cases Crisis project (Nuffield Foundation, £350k). I also chair my faculty's Research Ethics Committee.

Area of expertise

I have scientific, computing, management and law experience having spent 20 years industry. My unique background gives me a cross discipline approach to law and first hand experience of how expert scientific and computing experts view the law and legal process.

My interest in expert evidence, the interface between the State and citizens and the use of risk prediction in the child protection system has resulted in me researching in the area. This overlaps with my teaching and several funded projects.
