About me
Timi is Technical Manager for the School of Engineering, Architecture and Environment at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol). He is passionate about Technology, Creativity and Innovation, and how these can benefit education, research and global endeavours. He has extensive experience in teaching, research and technical leadership across UK Higher Education Institutions. He leverages his diverse knowledge, skills and experience to plan and coordinate technical operations, develop and implement strategies and services ensuring the technical vision and voice are effectively represented across teams and to foster positive student and staff experience. He is committed to promoting equity, advancing inclusion and ensuring equal representation within technical departments.
Timi studied Computer Science at FUNAAB, Nigeria and holds a master’s degree in Creative Software Systems from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. He was awarded the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship funded by Department for International Development UK (now Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office) for research at Immersive Education Laboratory, School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering, University of Essex, exploring applications of Virtual and Augmented Reality in diverse domains with particular focus on how Virtual Reality technology, Innovation methodologies such as Science Fiction Prototyping and Artificial Intelligent agents can enhance idea generation for teams creating innovative products and services. One of his published research papers won best paper award at European Alliance for Innovation’s International Conference on Technology, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Education.
He has led groundbreaking initiatives to bridge the gap between cutting-edge technology and business innovation. As Technical Lead for the European Regional Development Fund (Hi3 Network) Project, he worked closely with small and medium-sized enterprises, researchers, and industry experts to explore emerging technologies and turn ideas into reality. His expertise spans Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality, 3D Printing, Motion Capture, and Drone Technology helping businesses adopt tools that transform the way they work.
In previous roles as Technical Coordinator and Technical Services Manager, he provided strategic leadership across technical operations, ensuring seamless support for teaching, research, and enterprise activities. He oversaw specialist facilities such as the Digital Fabrication Laboratory, where advanced processes like Laser Cutting, CNC Machining, Resin Printing, and Selective Laser Sintering enable innovation at scale. Passionate about technology and collaboration, he continues to champion solutions that empower creativity and drive progress.
In his free time, Timi has developed himself over the years as a self-taught artist exploring hand-stitched art complemented with the use of digital tools. He is also involved in Creative Science Foundation’s (CSF) activities. CSF is a not-for-profit educational organisation dedicated to the exploration and promotion of creative methods to foster innovation, advocating for a synergetic relationship between the sciences (e.g., engineering, business, socio-political etc.) and the creative arts (writing, films, art, dance, etc.).
