About me

I am an experienced Academic Practitioner with 13 years experience as an educator at UWE.

I have held two roles as Associate Head of Department which have given me experience at a senior level of both sides of the complex matrix management structure.  In my current role as Subject Associate Head of Department for marketing Events and Tourism I am a member of the Departmental Executive team involved in decisions around not only the day to day operation staffing and resourcing of the MET Cluster but also around the strategic direction of the Department. In this role, I line manage 39 staff including those with research, and industry backgrounds covering the fields of Marketing & Events. As academic lead for the subject field I have been able to realise the programme enhancements regarding Digital learning and employability that I put into place in my previous role as Programme Associate Head of Department.

Prior to working at UWE, I held senior positions in Global Brands (Planning Director Europe at Levi's, Store Operations Director Levi's) and latterly as Worldwide Head of Retail and then Global Head of Marketing for Speedo.

I successfully led the Viper KTP which was the only management KTP awarded outstanding by the UKTI. I have one paper currently submitted based on research from the Viper KTP. "Open innovation in an eco-system: Service-Dominant Logic in the rail infrastructure supply chain" European Journal of Marketing. In addition to completing my Masters this year with distinction, I have also worked to increase University external links, most notably by running an Industry engagement event 'Bridging the skills gap' which resulted in new partnerships forming with agencies within Bristol.

I was also responsible for co-module leading the start up of the DMI diploma, and teaching on the first 3 runs of this CPD course, which was nominated for an award in 2017.

In 2018 I was part of a successful bidding team who have secured consulting work with Highlands & Islands worth approx. £150,000.

I represented the University at LTSE CABS in 2018, where we won a prize for our presentation and commendation from the Dean for 'putting UWE on the L&T map'. I participated the following year contributing to a further presentation on Learning gain in 2019.
