About me

I serve as UWE's Equality and Diversity Manager . The Equality and Diversity Unit is based in rooms 3L3 and 3L4 at Frenchay. We look after the University's Single Equality Scheme, Equality Analysis (EA's) and Charter Marks (Athena Swan, Race Equality, Two Ticks - Positive about Disabled people, and Stonewall) and support the 3 strategic 2020 programmes to embed inclusivity. I have extensive prior experience in both diversity/inclusion and education/training.

In addition to E&D, I also have a community development, training and business background, having worked in the global telecoms industry for over 12 years.  I am passionate about community cohesion, active citizenship and accessible comms.

I have worked as an adult educator in Bristol delivering courses for BME women on citizenship and voice, and as a member of the Bristol Somali Forum.
