About me

I am an Award-winning Senior Lecturer in Film and Television specialising in Employability. I have over 25 years of industry experience working in Unscripted Television across the networks. My most recent credits are Casting Producer for Channel 4’s award winning series One Born Every Minute and Online Edit Producer for ITV’s Tipping Point. I studied Drama at Exeter University and went on to be a Presenter for Sky sports and CITV's Top Ten of Everything. This is where I discovered my love of working in television production. After a short stint as a Casting Assistant Producer for entertainment shows such as BBC's The Bachelor and ITV1's Catchphrase I became a Producer/Director. My first directing credit was for ITV1's Poor Little Rich Girls. Other career highlights include The Truth About Binge Drinking, a 90 minute documentary for ITV1, and Channel 4's Wife Swap. I also spent 5 years as a Senior Producer on Channel 4’s award winning Deal or No Deal. I started lecturing in 2015 and was awarded ‘Most Inspiring Lecturer’ by the students at the University of Gloucestershire. I went on to complete my Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice with Distinction whilst still working in the industry as part of my research and scholarly activity. I am now a Senior Lecturer on the BA Filmmaking course at The University of the West of England where I specialise in Employability - helping students find their way into the industry I love!

Area of expertise

For the last 8 years I have used my wealth of filmmaking skills and knowledge in Higher Education settings to improve Graduate Outcomes and help close the gap between university and industry.  I am passionate about working with students in finding out where they fit in the Film and TV landscape and have a proven track record in helping them get there. I am extremely well connected and have strong industry links built up over three decades. I am passionate about promoting positive change and securing partners that help benefit the course and students alike. At my time at UWE, I have launched the popular ‘Meet the Industry’ series at the Arnolfini Theatre. These events invite industry professionals to discuss their craft and career journey’s – helping to inspire the students – and have led to invaluable opportunities and jobs in Film and TV! As a first-generation university student and working mother I have a keen interest in research that has a positive impact in an ever-evolving industry where representation needs to be front and centre.
