About me
Dr. Yusuf Mahadik completed his PhD. on the characterisation and kinematic process modelling of 3D woven composite materials in 2010 at the University of Bristol following an MEng in Aeronautical Engineering.
His 10-year postdoctoral career at Bristol saw him involved in large experimental programmes with industrial partners including Rolls Royce UTC, studying the impact behaviour of novel z-pinned CFRP laminates, and Vestas Wind Energy UTSP, investigating the thermal distortion of large wind turbine blade sandwich panel structures.
Alongside his research, he has taught Structures and Materials and Composites Design and Manufacture, delivering lectures and practical sessions to undergraduate students, postgraduate researchers and industrial clients.
Prior to joining UWE in 2024, Yusuf held a Technical Specialist role at the Bristol Composites Institute, developing and implementing advanced laboratory techniques such as full-field imaging for strain mapping, X-Ray computed tomography and the design of novel test setups involving complex data-acquisition and system control.
Area of expertise
Characterisation and Mechanical Testing of Composite Materials, Advanced Composites Processing, Novel Through-Thickness Reinforcement, High-speed imaging, Digital Image Correlation, Experimental Mechanics and Design of Experiments.
