About me

Dr Zafer Ozturk is a Senior Lecturer in Engineering Project Management with more than 15 years of international experience working in industry and academia. Zafer is mainly focusing on energy, sustainability and built environment domains.

After obtaining his BSc. degree from Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 2007, Zafer carried out his postgraduate studies in University of Salford, Manchester – UK. He received MSc. degree in Sustainable Development, Energy and Management in 2009 throughout which he had chance to get involved in UK based renewable energy development projects. Following, he carried out PhD. research on Smart Grids, which paved the way for attaining PhD. title in "Construction and Project Management" in February 2014.

Prior to this role in UWE, he has taught and/or led research at Cardiff Metropolitan University, University of West of Scotland, University of Salford, Bogazici University, and Istanbul Technical University.

Zafer has worked for various organizations (Consultancies, Universities, Think Tanks and NGOs, Ministries, Private sector) in UK, EU, Türkiye, the Balkan Region, Azerbaijan, Iran and UAE.

He has worked as an energy systems expert (with project management duties) in funded academic research projects such as:

  • TURKSTREAM NG Pipeline Project: Impact on Turkey's Economy and Energy Security
  • RENOZEB-EU : Renovation for Zero Energy Buildings in European Union
  • Impact of Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Infrastructure on National Grid Stability (Includes Turkey and Norway Comparative Study)
