About me

As Faculty Director, Zainab has faculty-wide accountability for a portfolio relating to the achievement and enhancement of an inclusive and successful student experience.  She supports management teams with their alignment with UWE and Faculty KPIs and objectives in particular, developing and implementing Faculty policies to support the retention, progression and attainment of students at all levels and from all demographic groups. Other projects include AACSB.

She was previously Leader for Continuous Enhancement and supported programme management teams with TEF related strategic enhancements.

From 2012-17 she was the UG Law Programmes Leader and she had operational responsibilities associated with the major milestones in the academic calendar and the daily delivery of the LLB programmes. She also had operational management responsibilities including; marketing and admissions, NSS strategy, graduate destinations as well as annual monitoring and quality assurance.

Zainab supports the Law School's international portfolio, and is experienced in overseas business, partnership and promotion activity. Prior to her academic career she worked as a legal services professional.

Zainab is the creator and Director of UWE's Equity Programme, an award-winning major strategic positive action programme which seeks to improve graduate outcomes for BAME students.  She provides consultancy to external organisations on creating inclusive workplace culture and how to authentically diversify their talent pipeline. She is also the creator of The Link, the South West's largest BAME professional networking event. Visit Twitter @Bristol_Equity and www.uwe.ac.uk/equity to see her work in this area. ‚Äč

She has taught on all UG, PG and Vocational Law courses and has also designed and delivered employability skills modules and is a PhD progression examiner.

She is an external examiner at Kingston University and the University of Buckingham.  She has acted as an external for validations for Liverpool John Moores and University of Hertfordshire.  She is a member of the Faculty Board and also sits on the Advisory Board for Babbasa Youth Empowerment Projects CIC.

Zainab's doctoral research critically examined factors affecting the public participation principle. She is particularly interested in the socio-political inequalities which determine individual empowerment and engagement in all forms of public debate.
