About me

Zoe is programme director and senior lecturer on the Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology Programme, a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and an HCPC Registered Counselling Psychologist. Zoe has experience of working with adults with complex mental health needs and dual diagnosis, within this role, she worked one to one and in group settings with clients.  

Area of expertise

Before coming to UWE, Zoe started her teaching career in Teesside University as a lecturer in research methods and statistics for a number of years before moving into teaching and research supervision on the Doctorate in counselling psychology programme, where she also gained a PGCHE and membership as Fellow with HEA.

 

Zoe is involved with both undergraduate and postgraduate provision including module leader for undergraduate Counselling Theory and Practice module and research supervisor. With the main areas of teaching on the doctorate programme including modules; principles of counselling psychology, professional ethics, diversity, social justice, psychodynamic therapy, risk assessments and complex mental health.

 

Zoe’s research interests include therapeutic relating (in general) but more specifically with; complex mental health presentations (e.g. psychosis, schizophrenia, personality disorders, dual diagnosis) mental health with forensic presentations, diversity, process and outcome of therapy. Zoe continues to supervise Counselling Psychology Doctorate trainees ​and has a number of successful Doctoral completions to date.

Zoe is an experienced internal and external viva examiner.
