About me
Dr Zoe Thomas is Associate Head of Department for Psychology, a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and HCPC Registered Counselling Psychologist.
Area of expertise
Before coming to UWE, Zoe started her teaching career in Teesside University as a lecturer in research methods and statistics for a number of years, then teaching and research supervision on the Doctorate in counselling psychology programme, where she also gained a PGCHE and membership as Fellow with HEA.
Zoe is involved with both undergraduate and postgraduate provision and previous programme director for the UWE Doctorate in Counselling Psychology programme. Main areas of teaching on the Doctorate programme include; principles of counselling psychology, professional ethics, diversity, social justice, psychodynamic therapy, risk assessment and complex mental health.
Zoe’s research interests include therapeutic relating, complex mental health presentations, diversity.
She is a member of Promoting Psychological Health (PPH) theme of the Psychological Sciences Research Group (PSRG). And continues to supervise Counselling Psychology Doctorate trainees and has a number of successful Doctoral completions to date.
Zoe is an experienced internal and external viva examiner.
