About me

I graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology in 1996 and went on to complete a PhD in Social Psychology in 2000 at Cardiff University. The following 10 years were spent working as a social researcher in the area of health and wellbeing in Sydney, Australia at a range of institutions including universities (The Australian National University, The University of Sydney), industry (Roy Morgan Research, Blue Moon Research and Planning), and not for profit (Beyondblue: The National Depression Initiative). After returning to the UK, I worked at the University of Bath focusing on research involving wellbeing interventions (person centred care for veterans and behavioural activation for people with depression) and occupational stress amongst midwives. This work has continued at UWE while working on projects investigating the wellbeing of First Contact Physiotherapists in primary care and occupational stress among ambulance staff. I am particularly interested in the NHS workforce and models of care, working on projects investigating the impact of the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme and the implementation of Nursing Associates into practice.
