About me
Anni Caden is a doctoral researcher in the Sustainable Economies Research Group (SERG).
Her PhD focuses on industrial water governance and climate resilience in the West of England, examining how fragmented governance structures, institutional arrangements, and place-based dynamics shape responsibility, incentives, and the potential for collective action around water conservation and sustainable resource management. The project is grounded in applied, place-based research and engages with industry, water companies, NGOs, policymakers, and regional stakeholders.
Prior to starting her PhD, Anni worked on a range of applied research projects focused on climate governance, net zero transitions, and social and environmental impact. This work involved developing monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) frameworks, conducting qualitative stakeholder research, facilitating workshops, and developing theories of change for regional net zero and just transition initiatives. Her research places a strong emphasis on equity, inclusion, and participatory approaches to sustainability policy and investment.
Anni’s academic background is in Environmental Science and Human Geography, and her research interests sit at the intersection of governance, sustainability transitions, and environmental justice. Across her work, she is particularly interested in how environmental responsibility is framed, allocated, and experienced within complex institutional and regional contexts.
