About me

As a Digital Learning Designer in the College of Business and Law, I support the development of relevant, authentic, and engaging learning experiences by championing sector‑leading digital learning and learning design practices. Working in alignment with UWE Bristol’s 2030 Strategy, I take a proactive, data‑informed approach to enhancing teaching and learning. My role includes advising academic colleagues on modular, programme‑level, and assessment design; guiding best practice in the use of digital technologies; and helping staff make effective use of UWE’s learning platforms.

My previous research projects focused on contemporary and immersive adaptations of Samuel Beckett’s works, with a particular focus on site-specific performance, digital adaptations, and politics of performance. I have published my research as peer-reviewed articles, including publications in the refereed journals Theatre and Performance Design, Irish University Review and Samuel Beckett Today/Aujourd’hui. By highlighting how contemporary adaptations and remediations can guide the audience’s embodied responses, with specific consideration of the ways in which scenography engages the attention of audiences, my research has shed new light on the often-undervalued role of theatre designers and indeed, audiences.

My current research investigates documentary theatre, or what is sometimes called verbatim or theatre of testimony, using case studies from across Ireland. In an era of post-truth, this research examines how notions of truth, authenticity, and what is real are constructed in a theatre genre that claims to be fact-based, or verbatim. In addition, it takes into consideration the impact of this form on audiences, especially so, when theatre of this nature is site-specific.

My teaching experience spans lecture, seminar, online and workshop formats across a range of curriculum areas, including Theatre Studies, English Literature and Education.
