About me
I am a Research Associate with a background in education, children's social care, and applied social research. I currently work at the University of the West of England on an NIHR-funded study exploring the implementation of Nursing Associates in adult secondary care. Over the past decade, I have worked on a wide range of research projects focused on improving outcomes for children, young people, families, and professionals. My work has included leading a mixed-methods study focused on the online lives of looked after children. I am highly experienced in conducting interviews and focus groups, analysing data, and engaging with stakeholders to generate evidence that informs policy and practice.
I hold a PhD in Education from the University of Glasgow, where my research examined cyberbullying as a process of social exclusion. My research interests include children's online experiences, safeguarding, education, social care, and workforce development. Throughout my career, I have contributed to projects funded by organisations including Health and Care Research Wales, the Youth Endowment Fund, and What Works for Children's Social Care, and I have published widely in peer-reviewed journals on topics such as cyberbullying and care-experienced young people.
Alongside research, I have a strong interest in knowledge exchange and teaching. I enjoy working collaboratively with practitioners, policymakers, and people with lived experience to ensure research is accessible, meaningful, and impactful. I have delivered teaching on research methods, survey design, and qualitative data analysis, and I am passionate about using research to support positive change for children, families, and communities.
