About me

I am an Associate Lecturer in Sociology within the School of Social Sciences at UWE Bristol. 

I am currently in the final stages of completing a PhD in Sociology, due to be submitted in October 2026. The research explores the experiences of working class mothers who use a food club in South Bristol, an independent food charity project run by a Community Interest Company in partnership with FareShare. My research explores experiences at the intersection of working class motherhood and food poverty, with particular reference to how the material realities of maternal food poverty management run into conflict with the imperatives of a classed parenting culture of intensive motherhood, and how this contributes to experiences of stigma. The research is fully funded by Canterbury Christ Church University. 

My broader research interests are motherhood, parenting, social class, socioeconomic inequality, and feminism. I have an MSc in Gender and International Relations from the University of Bristol. My MSc dissertation explored gender, and transnational migration, in particular, narratives of intersectional sisterhood in female relationships across  borders. I contribute to teaching across the BA Sociology programme.
