About me

Dr Emily Searle is a Lecturer in Psychology and an active member of the Psychological Sciences Research Group (PSRG). Emily's academic journey started at UWE with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology before completing her PhD at UWE. This doctoral thesis involved the development and evaluation of an acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) curriculum in schools, focusing on universally supporting psychological wellbeing as well as exploring the feasibility of mental health education within schools.

Emily's research interests revolve around applications of ACT with young people and neurodiverse populations, promoting psychological wellbeing, co-creating universal wellbeing strategies in schools, neurodiversity and wellbeing, and arts and wellbeing (specifically performance arts; theatre, dancing, acting and singing).

Emily started teaching as an Associate Lecturer and continues as a Lecturer, teaching across the undergraduate Psychology Degree and Social Sciences Foundation Degree. Emily teaches across a range of modules as well as being an academic personal tutor, and has strong involvement in the first year module 'Interpersonal Psychology'.
