About me
I am a computational and systems Neuroscientist with a strong background in cellular neurophysiology. My research is focused on neural mechanisms which act during sleep to support healthy brain fucntion. Humans spend more than a third of our entire life span sleeping, but our brains are highly active even when we are unconscious. Neural processes during sleep are essential for writing and rewriting memories, efficiently encoding a complex model of the world, and for maintaining brain health. My research is primary focused on two themes:
1 - Neural mechanisms that act during sleep to strengthen and reorganise memories, particularly those associated with movement planning and motor control.
2- The essential role of glymphatic clearance mechanisms in maintaining brain health and the assosiation between glymphatic disfunction and neurodegenerative disorders
Area of expertise
