About me

I am a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at UWE Bristol. Currently I'm the module leader for a Level 3 module, the Psychology of Appearance of Embodiment.

I am also co-module leader for the Social Psychology & Individual Difference module on the MSc Conversion programme, where I lead the Social Psychology block. I teach on social psychology blocks across the undergraduate Psychology programme, and supervise undergraduate and Masters' student dissertations.

I am also an active researcher, affiliated with the Centre for Appearance Research (CAR) (having previously been a Senior Research Fellow at CAR). Here, my research focuses on understanding the experiences of people with a range of visible differences (historically "disfigurement") and ways of supported affected individuals. I am leading a project to develop a self-help tool based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and specialise in the psychology of living with alopecia.

My other teaching and research interests include masculinities and health, as well as meditative and contemplative practices.

I also co-supervise PhD and professional doctorate candidates.
