About me

Huma Mulji works across sculptural installation, photography, collage, and drawing, engaging with the city and its collective memory against the backdrop of globalization, migration, state power, and fractured histories. Her deliberately awkward works stand as inconvenient witnesses to time and place while critically exploring material and form. Mulji’s practice reflects an abiding interest in the specificity of place, amplifying discomfort and scepticism from the position of both observer and participant.

Mulji’s work has been shown internationally, including at MACBA, Barcelona; Queens Museum, New York; Venice Biennale; and the Gwangju Biennale. Recent exhibitions include Manzar, National Museum of Qatar (2024), Aftermath, KitForm, Bristol (2024), and and Your Tongue in My Mouth, Mirror, Plymouth (2022). She was the recipient of the Abraaj Group Art Prize in 2012 and was the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Visual Art Fellow for 2024–2025.
