About me
Julia Carter is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology at the University of the West of England. Her research interests include marriage and relationships, families and personal life, and gender and sexuality. She is particularly interested in intimate relationships and the roles these play in an ever-changing social context.
Previous publications have focused on marriage and narratives of love, sexuality and commitment; living apart together relationships, policy and social change; weddings and gender; and love and relationships. More recently Julia has completed research and published work in collaboration with colleagues at UWE on the topic of mixed-sex civil partnerships.
Julia has recently been awarded a Leverhulme Research Fellowship to work on an 18 month project titled: ‘Post-intimate spaces: Understanding co-residency after relationship dissolution’.
