About me

Laura Parke is Senior Lecturer of BA Graphic Design, Foundation Link Tutor, Admissions Tutor and Link Tutor (Hong Kong Design Institute).
 
A designer, educator, and researcher whose person-centred practice spans across print and screen-based platforms. Her work critically engages with issues of representation within the design sector, seeking to foreground underrepresented voices and challenge inequalities. She has exhibited her work at the International Slavery Museum, Liverpool; The Whitworth, Manchester; Abington Studios, Blackpool; Arnolfini, Bristol; Islington Mill, Salford; and the Liverpool Independents Biennial.
 
Her current research includes imperfect Index—a conference and publication series exploring the discriminatory histories and contemporary practices of graphic design, and advocating for more diverse and inclusive futures. The project was established in 2023 and has been featured in; Design History Society (2025); It's Nice That (2025); Errata Design Podcast, Portugual (2025); Lethaby Gallery, London (2025); Camberwell College of Art, London (2025); VI AIS/Design Conference. The roots of expanded design. What futures for the history of design? Bovisa-Durando Campus, Milan (2023).
