About me

Greetings!

My name is Luke (He/Him). I am a PhD researcher and associate lecturer in Music Technology, originally from the West Midlands, but now based in Bristol, UK. I am a neurodivergent White man with medium length floofy hair, some combination of a beard, moustache and glasses, and usually wearing something either wonderfully colourful or delightfully emo.

I am currently a PhD researcher at the University of the West of England under the supervision of Dr Natanya Ford. My research focusses on Accessible Auditory Navigation in open world video games, specifically with a focus on collaboratively designing games with Blind and Low Vision gamers. I'm super excited about how we facilitate playful and curious exploration, localisation and navigation in virtual game environments, however when using audio as the primary modality.

I am also an associate lecturer in Music Technology, where I teach everything from audio programming and interactive audio to research methodology and composition. Typically, I supervise student projects in game audio, sound design, accessible design and inclusive research. I believe in dialogic collaboration with students, and encourage all students to consider accessibility in their work. I always bring the brightest positive vibes, bonkers analogies for explaining abstract code concepts, and coffee-fuelled discussions to get those creative ideas flowing.

Finally, I am also an active musician and producer across various projects ranging from trip hop and rap, to DIY indie and math rock. You can find more at www.CitesAndSounds.com.
